Farm School Programs
Everdale's unique 50-acre property is a vibrant, living classroom. It has an organic vegetable farm, mixed livestock, open meadows, forests, and wetlands. Facilities include solar and wind power systems, a greenhouse, nature trails, and a community centre. We offer programs and tours for K-8 schools, scouts, camps, homeschoolers and many other groups.
Everdale currently offers a series of Farm School workshops. All workshops are curriculum-linked and hands-on. They integrate curriculum expectations from a number of strands fostering a development of environmental literacy and stewardship. We believe that our Farm School Programs provide meaningful learning for children and are essential in helping to create innovative solutions for an ecologically sustainable future.
Farmer for a Day Farm Trips
We focus on where food comes from and how we grow and raise healthy food here on the farm. It is meant to be a broad introduction to sustainable agriculture and livestock care. We really keep it positive and focus on are the key ingredients of healthy farm ecosystems. The common thread throughout the day is:
Healthy Soil = Healthy Plants = Healthy Humans
One of the program goals is to create opportunites for quality farm experiences for both the educator and the students. We encourage all participants to leave with dirt under their findernails!
BEE AWARE! Bees on Site
Everdale produces its own honey and has several bee hives. Although incidents of people getting stung have been infrequent, those with bee allergies should take appropriate precautions while visiting Everdale.
