What happens at a Team Building day?

The basic team building program is 4 hours long. When you arrive at the farm your Everdale host will greet you, show you the indoor team building space and washrooms, and give your team an introduction to Everdale’s charitable work. Your group will get a walking tour of the property and then introduced to Everdale’s team of farmers who will take you to the farm fields where you will help to complete a group task such as planting or harvesting. There are lots of opportunities for socializing and learning while you are volunteering in the field. This is usually where the most memorable team building happens! Before you leave, your Everdale host will answer questions that your team has about their experience and about how your volunteer farm work has contributed to your community.

How will our team be contributing to the community?

Everdale grows farm-fresh vegetables for families who can’t afford healthy food and are reliant on the processed food provided by most food banks. When you participate in a team building day, you are helping to grow fresh food that is making a difference in the lives of thousands of people in our communities. The food grown at Everdale Farm is distributed by our four charitable partner organizations: The SEED at Guelph Community Health Centre, Daily Bread Food Bank, Feed It Forward, and East Wellington Community Services.

What type of volunteer tasks will our team do?

Don’t worry! All the farm tasks you do at Everdale will be suited to people with all levels of physical ability. The task of the day may be planting, weeding, or harvesting. Whatever you do we guarantee it will be: (1) Fun; (2) Suited to each person’s physical abilities; (3) Meaningful work that your team will be proud of (4) An opportunity for your team to enjoy time together and learn.

What do I need to bring?

Team members should dress for the weather and wear clothes that they don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Closed-toe shoes. Sunscreen and hat. Water bottle. Everdale provides work gloves.

Where is Everdale located?

We are located in the beautiful rolling hills of east Wellington County. About 30 minutes east of Guelph and an hour northwest of Toronto. Directions to the farm are here

What is the cancellation policy?

Your Team Building fee is refundable, less a service fee of $50 per date booked, if your program is cancelled in writing more than three weeks before the start of the booked program day. If the cancellation occurs within three weeks of the booked program day no refund will be offered.

Who are the Food Donation agencies?

The food grown at Everdale Farm is distributed by our four charitable partner organizations: The SEED at Guelph Community Health Centre, Daily Bread Food Bank, Feed It Forward, and East Wellington Community Services.

Are there other ways my company or organization can contribute to Everdale’s work?

Everdale is a registered charity and issues tax receipts for donations. Donations go towards making fresh food available for people who need it. Go here to donate or contact gavin@everdale.org for more information about what the impact that your donation will have.
