Good Food Project Volunteering

– Everdale & The SEED - This program is on hold for the time being.

Volunteer on the farm and work side by side with Everdale’s Farmers to grow food that goes directly towards reducing food insecurity.  Volunteer shifts happen every Wednesday morning at Everdale and folks have the option of getting to the farm themselves, or catching a ride with other volunteers from the Guelph Community Health Centre.

All volunteers should be either 14 years of age or entering Grade 9.

This volunteer program is part of a partnership between The SEED from the Guelph Community Health Centre and Everdale.

Working Shareholder - This program is on hold for the time being.

A working share is someone who can commit to regular weekly shifts at one of our markets and receives produce in exchange.  There are a number of options for those interested.

More Details - Week Long Volunteering

• Work a 9 hour day (with one hour for lunch) alongside Everdale farmers. Start and end times change with the season so be sure to confirm before you start. • Full week volunteers will need to bring their own tent to sleep in. This means we are only able to host full week volunteers when the weather allows for tenting. Usually May to October. They will have access to the common areas on the farm. Bathroom, kitchen, and common lounge. • Volunteers are responsible for their own meals. Some access to Everdale grown vegetables will be provided and volunteers who finish their week will be given a $65 food allowance to cover their costs. • Full week volunteers are encouraged to arrive at some point on Sunday to get themselves set and up and settled in before the work week begins. • There is no vehicle for public use at Everdale. • Proper footwear (no open toed shoes) is required. Bring a wide range of clothes appropriate for all weather conditions. You will get dirty. • Everdale will only book one week at a time. It may be possible to extend a stay but those decisions happen during the first week.

CarrotStock Volunteer - This program is on hold for the time being.

Everdale hosts an annual fall event every season that can see up to 1000 visitors come to the farm.  We rely on volunteers to help run the event.  There is a wide range of tasks that volunteers may be asked to perform, from running kids activities, helping with u-pick carrots, directing traffic, site setup and cleanup, and many more.

Week Long Volunteering - This program is on hold for the time being.

For people who can’t commit to regular weekly shifts, but can commit to spending a full week on the farm.  Everdale highly encourages potential Sustainable Farming Certificate students to participate in this option in the season prior to applying if possible.
